Udu Technologies, a Nigerian Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) cloud and infrastructure platform, has partnered with South Korean AI infrastructure company Baro AI to expand the supply of high-performance GPUs to African governments, businesses and research institutions.
GPUs are specialised chips that can perform many calculations simultaneously, making them well suited to training and running AI models. Unlike conventional computer processors, GPUs can handle the large volumes of parallel computation required by modern AI systems, making access to them a critical part of building AI infrastructure.
Signed Wednesday, September 9, at the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference in Seoul, the deal gives UduTech access to Baro AI’s multi-GPU Poseidon servers and broadens the range of hardware available through its AGH Cloud platform.
Africa has less than 1% of global data centre capacity and an even smaller share of the GPU infrastructure needed to run AI systems. That gap leaves governments, businesses and researchers competing for limited computing power, potentially slowing the continent’s ability to deploy AI at scale.
UduTech said African buyers can face hardware delivery delays of up to 36 weeks from major suppliers such as Dell, HP and Supermicro, which commonly use NVIDIA chips in their servers.
“When African organisations issue Request for Proposal (RFPs) for AI infrastructure, they shouldn’t have to face global chip scarcity and 36-week hardware delays,” said Alexander Tsado, CEO of Udu Technologies. “Our partnership with Baro AI disrupts this status quo.”
Founded in February 2025 by former NVIDIA engineer Alexander Tsado, UduTech is building a distributed GPU infrastructure business aimed at bringing AI computing and sensitive data closer to African users. Through its AGH Cloud platform, the company operates its Africa GPU Hub, with deployments in Nigeria and the United States.
The partnership gives UduTech another source of GPUs as it responds to procurement requests from governments and businesses. While availability and pricing will vary by the type and volume of GPUs required, UduTech expects the additional supplier to give it more flexibility on cost and delivery times.
Baro’s Poseidon servers could also open up deployments beyond conventional data centres. The systems use liquid cooling and produce less noise, making them suitable for places such as banks and telecom companies where large, noisy data-centre equipment may not be practical.
“By bringing their low-noise, liquid-cooled Poseidon servers into our AGH Cloud ecosystem, we can bypass traditional backlogs and deliver high-performance compute directly to banks, telcos, and governments right when they need it,” Tsado said.
The partnership provides Baro AI with a route into a fast-growing African AI infrastructure market, where established global hardware companies supply most enterprise GPU servers. The South Korean company is seeking to expand its presence in Africa as governments increasingly look for local computing capacity to support AI applications.
